Car Service: How Often?
Service intervals are determined based on two factors: mileage and time. The service check should be carried out when either of the two limits set by the manufacturer is reached. The general categories are:
- Cars requiring a service every 15,000–20,000 km or 1–2 years
- Cars requiring an oil change every 15,000 km and a service every 30,000 km
- Long-life service cars requiring checks every 30,000–50,000 km or 2 years
In some cases, the onboard computer, using sensors, can automatically determine when a service is necessary. This means that service intervals may vary depending on driving style and vehicle condition.
How often should a diesel car be serviced?
There is no specific connection between servicing frequency and diesel engines. The maintenance manual always dictates the required service intervals.
